Heartleaf

Heartleaf, or Houttuynia cordata, is a traditional East Asian plant that has become one of K-beauty's flagship soothing actives, driven by Anua's Heartleaf 77% toner. Its flavonoids are studied for their action on inflammation, and it is aimed at skin prone to redness, acne and passing irritation.

What the science says

Inhibition of inflammatory pathways is documented in the laboratory, on in vitro models; no human skin clinical trial has been identified to date. The percentage on the label reflects the share of extract in the formula, with no validated efficacy threshold. It remains a highly tolerated active, much appreciated for the immediate fresh, calming sensation it brings, often paired with panthenol.
