Snail Mucin
Snail mucin, or snail secretion filtrate, is the active that launched the global "glass skin" wave with COSRX's Snail 96 essence. It is a filtrate rich in glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid and allantoin, valued for its hydrating, repairing and plumping feel. The "96%" refers to the share of filtrate in the formula, mostly made of water, not a concentration of isolated actives.
What the science says
Fibroblast proliferation and skin renewal are documented in vitro and in animal models; there is no large randomised clinical trial for daily cosmetic use. We therefore present it as a much-loved comfort and hydration active, not as a treatment with demonstrated efficacy. A real precaution: people allergic to dust mites or molluscs may show a cross-reaction; a patch test is advised.
Which skin type
Dehydrated, dull or marked skin looking for suppleness. It slips in after the toner among our serums and essences, appears in our moisturisers and complements a skin barrier routine well.
