Peptides
Signal peptides stimulate collagen synthesis and have the strongest clinical backing in this family of actives (documented split-face trials). Copper peptide (GHK-Cu) works via copper, an enzymatic cofactor, though its skin penetration remains uncertain. Never combine with pure vitamin C or direct acids in the same application — the reaction degrades both.
How to choose
For mature skin that cannot tolerate retinoids, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, peptides are the best-documented anti-aging alternative. As a first step, a watery "booster" serum goes on right after cleansing, morning and evening. For the eye area, choose a dedicated cream or hydrogel patch. Peptides combine well with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and ceramides; keep pure vitamin C and acid exfoliants for another time of day.
